I believe that most of us have an instinctual feeling that comes from within whenever we see somebody try to sell us a bill of goods. We have an inner voice that tell us "you know this is a big steaming pile of you know what". For whatever reason, many in the forex trading community have decided to hit the mute button when they see an ad for automated forex robots.
All of us would love to live in a world where we could outsource our job to a "magical" robot that will do all of our work in our behalf while we collect the paychecks. You don't think the poor man/woman working at the DMV doesn't wish they could call in sick and tell their boss "don't worry....my robot will cover for me."
Well, sadly for all of us, we don't live in the land of Star Trek. If you want something to be done, then by golly, you are going to have to do it yourself. But for whatever reason, many forex traders don't look at trading in this manner. They think that they can just program a robot to do the work on their behalf. What kind of thought process is involved here?
I have my moments where I feel lethargic but just because I want an extra 30 minutes of sleep doesn't mean I let an inanimate object handle my financial future. Yet, you'll find traders dropping thousands of dollars into their account, pushing the "play" button on their robots, and just walking away, as it does its thing.
If this is something you're doing now, all I have to say is that you are a much braver person than I am. I couldn't never do anything like that. I learned the hard way that all the gimmicks that are sold right now in the forex market are nothing but shortcuts.
It starts with you and ends with you. The chances of success in this business lies solely on your shoulders not which toys you use. The more bells and whistles that you need to trade, the more insecure you are as a trader. If you stick to the basics and don't be overwhelmed with nonsense like trading robots, then you'll be just fine.
It wasn't until I stripped all the needless filler from my charts and really looked at the price movement of the market that I progressed as a trader.
The key to trading the forex market comes down to price action.
